Man United boss Louis van Gaal has reportedly tabled a bid for AC Milan midfielder Nigel de Jong.
It is perhaps unsurprising that the new Old Trafford manager would target members of the Dutch national team squad he has just led to a third place finish at the 2014 World Cup though some may feel it odd that Man United would chase a player who has of course represented local rivals Man City.
