Chelsea have confirmed the signing of club legend Didier Drogba from Galatasaray on a one-year contract.
The 36-year-old returns to the club two years after scoring the winning goal for the Blues in their 2012 Champions League final victory in Munich.
Drogba spent eight years previously at Stamford Bridge, winning three Premier League titles, four FA Cups and two League Cups.
The Ivory Coast international scored 157 goals in all competitions during his first spell in West London
“It was an easy decision – I couldn’t turn down the opportunity to work with Jose again,” Drogba told the club’s website.
“Everyone knows the special relationship I have with this club and it has always felt like home to me.”
The forward is the club’s all-time top European scorer, netting 34 times and also a record nine goals in nine finals that cemented the African’s place as a cult hero.
“He’s coming because he’s one of the best strikers in Europe,” manager Jose Mourinho said.
“I know his personality very well and I know if he comes back he’s not protected by history or what he’s done for this club previously. He is coming with the mentality to make more history.”
Since leaving the Bridge first time around Drogba has spent time in China with Shanghai Shenhua and then Gala.

Van Gaal style favours me

Juan Mata feels he will be well suited to Louis van Gaal's style of play as he looks forward to a bright new era at Manchester United.
Mata moved to Old Trafford for £37.5 million in January as David Moyes attempted to inspire a revival after a dismal start to the season, but was rarely played in his favoured No.10 role and was unable to bring about an upturn in fortunes with the Scot sacked in April.

United eventually finished 22 points behind champions Manchester City but, despite his disappointing start to life at United, Mata is confident United will be able to challenge for trophies again under Van Gaal.
"It's the start of a new era for the club, with a new manager and players coming in," he told MUTV. "I'm really happy with the manager's style of football and hopefully at the end of the season we can celebrate something, which would be amazing for him and for us.
"We're focused on improving and trying to learn from the manager, to play at our best level during the season. The main idea is to play as a team and compete for titles."
Van Gaal has finally taken charge of his squad after leading the Netherlands to third place at this summer's World Cup and will oversee his first match on Wednesday when United face Los Angeles Galaxy at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena.
The Dutchman has been leading intense double-training sessions in LA and, with Spain having been eliminated at the group stage during the World Cup, Mata is playing a full part in the preparations.
"It will be a different pre-season for me because in the last six or seven years I've always had a tournament with the national team and haven't had a complete pre-season with my team," he said.
"So this time I will do the whole tour of the States, which is good for me to prepare for a long and hard season. This is my first pre-season with United and I'm enjoying it - the journey was good, the hotel is nice and the training ground is great."
He added: "The most important thing is to get ready, step-by-step, and not too hard because injuries can happen. It's important for us to prepare physically and mentally for the long season

Spurs complete the signing of Swansea duo

Swansea City have completed the signing of Gylfi Sigurdsson from Tottenham, with Swans duo Ben Davies and Michel Vorm going the other way.

The 24-year-old attacking midfielder completed a medical on Wednesday, having left Spurs' tour of the United States, before penning a four-year deal.

The Icelander struggled to hold down a starting berth at White Hart Lane, making just 26 Premier League starts in his two seasons at the club, but returns to the Liberty Stadium where he enjoyed a productive loan spell in 2012.

"I really enjoyed my time last time I was here, so it's really good to be back," he told the club's official website. "I was here for five or six months and still have a lot of memories. Hopefully this time it will be even better.

"The squad has changed a little bit, quite a lot of new players have come into the squad, but the core is still there."

Sigurdsson, then on loan from Hoffenheim, made 18 appearances under Brendan Rodgers, scoring seven goals and assisting a further three to endear himself to the Swansea faithful.

Crystal Palace were also intersted in the former Reading man, but he elected to return to south Wales and becomes the club's fifth signing of the summer after Lukasz Fabianski, Bafetimbi Gomis, Stephen Kingsley and Marvin Emnes.

The deal paved the way for left-back Ben Davies and goalkeeper Michel Vorm to join Spurs.

Inter closing in on Chicharito

Inter Milan could turn to Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez after being informed that Manchester City forward Stevan Jovetic is not for sale.

The Sun are reporting that the Italian giants could move for the 26-year-old Mexican as they look to bolster their strike force this summer.

Milan endured a disappointing season last year, finishing fifth in Serie A and missing out on a place in the Champions League.

Argentine forward Rodrigo Palacio currently leads their front-line, with his countryman Mauro Icardi the only other forward currently on the clubs books with a chance of playing regularly in the first-team.

Jovetic, 24, made just 13 Premier League appearances for Premier League champions City last season as he struggled with injuries. However, he still managed to score six goals in all competitions, and reports that he could be set to return to Italy, where he last played for Fiorentina, have proved wide of the mark.

Hernandez has been with United since 2010, scoring 59 goals in 152 appearances. However, he managed just nine last term, with only four of those coming in the Premier League – marking the first year he has failed to hit double figures in the competition.

Van Gaal to get rid of Seven

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal could axe up to seven more players this summer following the sale of Patrice Evra, who is expected to complete his move to Serie A champions Juventus later today.

Anderson, Javier Hernandez, Wilfried Zaha, Nani, Tom Cleverley, Chris Smalling and Bebe are all at risk of being sold by the Red Devils' new boss.

Hummels To United

Manchester United are close to completing a deal for Borussia Dortmund and Germany star Mats Hummels.

Louis van Gaal has seen the defence at Old Trafford as a key area to strengthen this summer. Both Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand departed the club this summer, leaving Manchester United with just three young centre-backs in the form of Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and Jonny Evans.

The report suggests that the deal will be worth around £16 million and that it could be announced at any point this week. Hummels would become the third signing under Van Gaal following deals for Luke Shaw and Ander Herrera.

Dortmund are believed to be happy with the fee as it makes economic sense for them to part ways for the German international while his stake is high. Hummels enjoyed an excellent World Cup and was a crucial piece in Joachim Low's team that went on to take home the trophy.

Dortmund have already secured a replacement in the form of Matthias Ginter. The young centre-back excelled for Freiburg last season and falls in line with Jurgen Klopp's transfer ethos over the last few seasons. Ginter, 19, will be given the chance to fill the void left by Hummels, who was also brought in cheaply as a teenager.
